Visualizations

I looked but didn't see anything that quite fit my query. I know that visualization works. I've had success in other things and if I imagine it, I can do it. But.... I have been overweight for the bulk of my life. I've been either heavy/solid, overweight or obese as am currently. I don't remember a time when I wasn't. Visualization works best for me if I can imagine myself being or doing whatever it is I'm aiming for but I'm having a problem imagining myself thin. I don't think I'll fail because of this but I do find it gives me something to work toward. Any lifers have luck getting around this?

Perhaps it is too much of a leap.

Try visualising yourself a stone lighter, then a stone lighter than that, etc.

Actual concrete visualisations - doing up your belt and realising you need to be on the next hole, exercising for half an hour and feeling exhilarated rather than wiped out, jeans falling down, running your hand down your back and feeling flat well-behaved flesh rather than lumpy bumpy flesh ...

When you're close to your goal weight I reckon it's be easier to imagine yourself toned and in a bikini, but I myself can't quite picture that yet. I can only imagine small changes ...

I had the same problem, no visualization. I was always bigger. Even in elementary I hit my growth spurt really early and had stretch marks at 11. Someone even told me they "couldn't imagine me as skinny", which was pretty discouraging. As motivation I bought a pair of skinny jeans in a size I thought ideal and much smaller than the size I was. I tried them on once a week. Slowly but surely I wiggled into them and now they are too big.
