My scales are going nuts

So I the past couple days I have stepped on and off my scale a few times in a row in the same spot where I usually weigh myself and my scale will give me a 3-5 lb difference each time! It is a digital scale and I have had it for 6 years. I changed the batteries in it yesterday and its still doing it. Should I just switch to a hand scale? definitely a downer when you know you have been working really hard and its not giving you a reoccurring #

I was going to say batteries, but you already replaced those.... also make sure that the feet on the bottom are all sitting properly in the scale - mine can pop out part way or sit crookedly in it, and sometimes get bumped out when I move it around. It gives me wonky readings when this happens because the scale isn't level.
Other than that, I'm not sure what else to try. Good luck!0 -
It probably just needs to be replaced. My guess is that, since you said it's 6 years old, it is probably just starting to malfunction/die. Most bathroom scales aren't really made to last that long. Although, I've heard that there is a brand(Salter) in Europe that is supposed to have the a lifespan of 10 years (apparently the only company with a lifespan that long from what I've heard).0
