Pimp My Breakfast :D

Opinions needed!

So, as someone who generally detests breakfast (except for my coffee).....I've decided to have a 1/3 cup of yogurt and 1/6 cup of oatmeal, which I've found to be tolerable. However, since this is just milk and cereal products (not counting the minimal amount of "fruit" in the yogurt), should I add perhaps an egg or something (keeping in mind I'm not a big fruit fan, esp in the mornings)? And I'm allergic to nuts and sesame seeds.

I like adding red/green bell peppers and onion with an egg to my oatmeal. It gives me protein and veg.
  • Don't eat breakfast food. Eat food you love. My son never ate breakfast food. He ate lunch/dinner food (with protein).

Since you're not hungry then, i don't see the point of forcing yourself to eat (unless you have a medical condition that requires it).

To answer your question, yogurt + oatmeal has a good amount of protein, but if you want to increase it, an egg or egg whites will do the trick. Or, as was said, eat non-breakfast foods, like chicken, fish, etc.

Not sure if you are avoiding instant oatmeal or not but here are some of the things I do:

    Maple & Brown Sugar Oatmeal + blueberries/blackberries
Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal + banana/blueberries/blackberries (just one or a combo of 2)

    Greek Yogurt:
    with 1/2 tbsp honey only
    with 1/2 tbsp honey & fruit (strawberries/blueberries/blackberries/raspberry) - Usually 2 of those

HungryGirl Egg Mugs (just google them - there are a ton) My favorite is the All American egg mug

Is it that you aren't hungry or you just detest breakfast foods? If you aren't hungry - don't eat. If you detest breakfast foods - eat something else. I rarely eat anything til around 10am - I'm just not hungry before then and at that time, it's usually a piece of fruit.

I detest breakfast, ergo, I usually don't eat it.

who is telling you that you have to eat it? Punch them in the throat.

I'm with the other posters. If you aren't hungry, don't eat unless you are having a HARD time eating a decent amount of calories. If you don't like the food, just find something you do!

As for adding protein, you don't really need to unless your protein levels aren't getting met at the end of the day. I'm a fan of boiled eggs. :) Or Quiche. Quiche is a nice mix between breakfast and lunch. I like mine crustless, but crust is easy, too. TONS of recipes on allrecipes(dot).com and probably some on here! And easy to change up once you're use to doing the basics. Hmmm... now I want quiche for lunch!!!!

Dude, my favorite breakfast food is cabbage and ground beef sauteed in bacon fat with hot sauce and homemade sauerkraut. I keep the ground meat cooked with no season in a container in the fridge as well as the cabbage, partially cooked. then I throw it in a skillet in the am, add garlic powder, paprika, salt and pepper. If I am working out after breakfast i will fry an egg too.
Or brussel sprouts with butternut or sweet potato and chicken apple sausage, same deal, all partially cooked or ready to simply be reheated with seasonings.

You don't have to eat breakfast food for breakfast, there are easy ways to make it quick to prepare, and you will get better nutrition than a tiny bit of yogurt and oatmeal!
