And while I couldnt be happier, Im nervous that I may be losing too much too fast! Ive got the weight to lose tho... started at 223 and on Wednesday, after two weeks of watching everything that I eat, only drinking water, walking 30-60 minutes a day, plus the shred, weighed in at 206.8. I went from a pretty lazy SAHM, to what I just posted above. I dont think im doing too much, but should I back off and try to aim for the "healthier" 2 pound/week loss?

The first few weeks most people lose more weight than normal. Usually when I start a program I will lose 4-7lbs for the first 3 weeks, then I usually linger at 1-2 per week.

First of all......CONGRATS! That is just awesome! After a couple of weeks you will level out and drop a little less weight each week. As long as you are eating the recommended number of cals, exercising and drinking your water.....I would just enjoy the success! If it continues to drop drastically, check with your doctor. He/she may want to check sugar levels/thyroid levels, etc. The doc will be so pleased that your are so motivated!
    Keep up the great job!:flowerforyou:

I think it should be just fine, I started MFP 2 weeks ago today, as of last Saturday (my weigh in day) I was down 12lbs. I am hoping to be down a total of 15-17 when I weigh in tomorrow. I too gave up all coffee and soda I only drink water so maybe that has something to do with it? Any how congrats on your big accomplishment, with all your hard work you will probably be down 20 lbs next week, you should be so proud of yourself

I agree. . .as long as you're eating sufficient calories and this type of weight loss doesn't last past the 3rd week or so you should be fine. CONGRATS!!!!!

Spot on posting, I fully agree.

to the OP Those first couple of weeks on a weight loss programme can be so exciting as the weight loss drops considerably. After about three weeks though, it settles down. So make the most of it :flowerforyou:

Thanks everyone! I feel good... eating the initail suggested calorie intake but when I add my exercise in I do not meet the suggested "extra" that they give you... I have been under the calories but I am FOR SURE, not starving myself. My eyes are bigger than my belly sometimes... I think im really hungry and am left satisfied after eating just half of what is on my plate, which I think is a good thing :)

When I did this before, I was here from Jan 2009 to June 2009. In those 6 months, the 1st - 2 weeks I lost 15 lbs and then it slowed and I plateud for about 2 months I think and then lost an additional 7 lbs throughout the remainder 5 months.....I was so frustrated, but ultimately I learned that though I was not losing quickly after my initial drop, I was NOT gaining any weight, my clothes continued to get larger and I felt fantastic. So keep in mind you may slow on the losing, but if you are following the rules then you are all good. I personally rarely eat all of my exercise cals for the main reason that I am not that hungry......try to at least stay nourished and water water water........at least that is what I remember. I started this again 3 days ago and have lost 4 lbs.....(water) so chances are I will do it again.....I pray cause I and sooooooo heavy right now ! Good luck and keep it up..........hope to see ya around!

I loat 4-5lbs a week for the first 3 weeks of my healthiness. That wasn't even excerising just eating healthier. Thats normal, it will slow down significantly.

You've got all the right answers already so I just wanted to say... Congratulations! I started (again) a week ago and lost 9 pounds this week. I'm loving it while I can. I'm in it for the long haul this time so it's guaranteed the slow weeks are going to happen sometime. Again, congrats and keep it going!

Congratulations. I think you are doing great. I weighed 180.5 when I started and lost 9.5 lbs in 2 weeks on an 800 cal nutritional diet under a doctors care to include exercise by walking 5 miles a day 7 days a week. I lost inches and water. Then on the 3rd week to current date, I only lost 2-4 lbs per week after that and no longer under doctors care, I'm on my own. To date I lost 24 lbs in 10 weeks. I brought my calorie count up to 1,000 and continue to exercise. I have not met my goal yet, but still plugging along at it. I think the exercise and watching what you eat is the key. You are a great inspiration!

Congratulatioons on your accomplishment.. Keep it up:)
However, you have to make sure that you are not too much below the recommended caloric intake (no more than 150 calories below). Otherwise you will be sabottaging your weight loss in the long run..
It is very normal if you have not been active at all and not eating healthy that once you get on a good exercise and healthy eating plan, that you would see huge numbers in the first few weeks.. You should stabilze by week 4 and then start to drop normal weight.. If that doesn't happen, then go see your doctor.
    Great job and congratulations again.
    Cheers

That's awesome! That is fairly normal during the first couple of weeks like others have mentioned. I'd expect the rate of loss to start slowing down soon now that your body will start adjusting to your new lifestyle.

So a spontaneous weekend away with my hubby to Atlantic City has me back up a some... LOL! This is, FOR SURE, a lifestyle change. We ate at one of the casino buffets and it was $30/HEAD, so I felt like I needed to eat more, even though I was filled before I even finished my first plate. We could've made a better decision and not have spent the money or wasted the calories on the buffet... but it was GOOOOOOOD! I felt like I had just wasted all of the hard work I had been putting out for the last two + weeks by eating the food. We learned a lesson tho and wont do that again. I felt sick to my stomach after we got back to the room... and then I slept it off :). Weigh in is on Wednesday so hopefully I will get back down to where I was before we left and maybe even drop a bit. I'll be sooo sad if I have to say I gained... ugh!

That is normal when going on a vacation. What you feel is accountability and you have acknowledge it! Don't say you will never do that again. We are human! I love Chips and Dip and as much as I say I will not eat that whole bag with Philadelphia Cream Cheese again, I will. I'm honest about it, I don't like that about myself, but, I hold myself accountable. The weight gain will come back to haunt me. Do not deny yourself get it over with and get back on track!
