Workouts that protect injured shoulder?

Hi all,
I managed to injure my shoulder two weeks ago and am having a hard time finding home workouts that burn calories and work on other problem areas but leave my shoulders alone. There is so much plank work/weight work, jumping jacks with arms, etc. and I modify when I can, but I feel like I'm modifying entire workouts and get bored with replacing every single move with a run in place.
Anyone know of a good DVD workout or youtube vid that has a high calorie burn that could leave my poor shoulder alone?
Thanks!

You could just spend a couple of weeks walking/running/hiking/cycling. They all give respectable calorie burns based on what you do with them (i.e tackle hills, do intervals, go for longer distance, break previous times, etc).
Take it from someone with a life-long shoulder injury: rest it. Do something else.
Only the novice struggles on through these things. Instead of doing something else for a week or two while they heal, they end up having to take months out when things get really serious.
I would suggest "testing" it occasionally as it mends and slowly re-introduce shoulder-centric exercises little-by-little. Doing nothing with an injury is as bad as soldiering on full-pelt and making it worse. You just need to be smart and cautious about re-introducing exercises.
Good rehab for shoulder includes things like windmills and turkish get ups. Although if you don't know those exercises already, don't try to learn them with an injured shoulder as you'll make things 10 times worse with crappy form!
If things aren't getting better in a week, I'd seek out a medical opinion.0 -
First you should determine if it's an injured or sore. There's a big difference in recovery. If it's injured, see a doctor and head his advice. If it's sore through straining, there's plenty of good stretches that will help. Never pulsate a stretch like many people tend to do. A hot pack/towel will help before stretching to loosen the muscle for a deeper, more effective stretch. Take it slow though, and don't forget to seek a doctor if soreness persists. My pitching arm had problems in high school and college. Cortisone shots weren't pleasant, and I couldn't fool the big leagues for long. I was eventually released. :-((0
