So I started in January eating right and exercising and I lost 40 pounds. I got sick and lost more weight but when I got better I started eating bad and I stopped going to the gym and I put 8 pounds back on. I know if I don't stop the bad eating and go back to the gym I will be back where I started and that scares me so I don't know why its so hard to just start. I keep saying I will start tomorrow and tomorrow will come and I don't do it. I have been eating worse then ever.

First thing, don't give yourself a hard time as you lost 40lbs so that's great! You've put a few back on while being ill, but you've stopped it before it's got out of hand and gone too far off the rails. I would suggest planning the week ahead - decide in advance what you're going to eat and that will make it easier to have something to aim for.
Also perhaps think of a long term goal, perhaps a holiday or birthday etc and again that will give you something on the horizon as a reminder. Once you've got 1 good day behind you, you can then build on that and after a few days you'll find it's easier to keep going as you won't want to ruin it for yourself then.
You've done it before so you can do it again... good luck!0 -
Well done for losing 40lb, that is a fantastic achievement. Although you've put 8lb back on it's not that bad as you will lose it pretty fast once you start eating right again.
In terms of getting back on track don't start 'tomorrow' as tomorrow never comes.:glasses: Start NOW. If you used MFP during the time you lost 40lb look back at your food diary and just eat what you ate on one of those days. You can so do this. You know you can do it because you've already lost 40lb.
Also think about how much better your body feels when you eat right.
Start NOW - you can do it.0 -
Just a reminder...................
Quitters never win
That is your own personal quote.......I read it. You have done so great.....40 lbs, that rocks it baby girl! 8lbs up is not at all a bad #.....its 8 outta the 40 you already shaved off. Get to the gym, start eating right again........you know what has to be done, I understand the lack in motivation. I think we all have it at one time or another............you have this................YOU HAVE THIS........You are gonna win this................................

40lbs is totally awesome, congratulations!
You have done it once before so look at it like putting on a few pounds was a little hiccup in your plan. Get right back on that horse, you can do it!
Good luck

40 pounds is amazing - it's really inspirational. If you can do it so can I! Everyone does lose motivation every now and again, but as this is a lifestyle change and not a "diet", you just need to get right back on it, you can't fail a lifestyle! Try to plan ahead ways of getting yourself more motivated. For example, I have trouble waking up at 6.30 am to get to the gym, so I put a little note on my alarm clock to remind myself why I have to get up and why it's so important to me to exercise, feel good and lose weight. I also plan my food the day before, that way if I fancy a steak for dinner, for example, I can adjust my lunch to keep it within my calorie goal or credit my calorie bank by going to the gym. These are just little things that *sometimes* work for me, try to find some that work for you. It really is hard sometimes so I know how you feel. Have a good weekend and big hugs x0
