I watched in horror and sadness...

This weekend some extended family was in town for a visit at my parents. As I watched them shuffle with pain walking across the floor, heard them grunt with effort to stand form a chair, watched them take mountains of pills and injections, and listened to them talk about what was ailing them I got scared.
So out of the fear came a 6 mile run/walk on Sunday (longest yet), thoughts of thanksgiving to my parents who taught me that age is not a symptom of illness, and motivation to stay the course on my change to a helathy lifestyle.
Here is my decree...
I will live by example and not preach. I will make good food choices and I will workout. I will proud of my achievements and grateful for support.
I will be that old lady you see Mall Walking in the pink and purple track suit one day so watch out here I come!!!!

I take a water aerobics class with several people that are 10 to 30 years older than me. It is inspiring to see how fit and active they are. You can age gracefully and do not need to follow the path of your family members.
