I was reading when you get closer to your goal, its smart to make your loss a little slower. But, at what point do you do that? I've lost 35 pounds and have about 12-17 more to go (still not sure!) At what point would I move to .5 a week?

Personally Id just stick to what you are doing if it is working. As an when you reach your goal just recheck your TDEE and eat around maintenance. Also bare in mind that you will naturally slow down anyway because as you drop in weight, your BMR/TDEE drop as well so if your food / day stays the same you will be slowly closing the gap from deficit to maintenance.

If you are still losing, don't change what you are doing. If you get to the point where you stop losing, up to .5 a week for a few weeks and see if you start dropping again. It's kinda the old saying "Don't fix something that isn't broken"...

My loss has slowed up a lot from 4-5 lbs per month to about 2 pounds per month and MFP has also calculated me with eating less calories than before after I played with the settings a bit. My loss has slowed down partly because I am only exercising 1-2 days a week due to a busy schedule and sometimes I go over my 1440 allotment on the days I do not exercise.
