Should I eat more?

In reading various posts, I am finding conflicting information. Some people suggest low caloric intake while others have success with the TDEE-20% ranges. What do you recommend? Currently, I have my caloric intake set at around 1400 a day. According to the TDEE and BMR calculators, I should eat within a range of 1900 calories. I have not lost weight in about 8-9 weeks after measuring and weighing my food consistently. Could it be possible that I am not eating enough?

203 pounds

    Yes.

It could also be what you are eating. Maybe change up your diet too? Confuse your body.

If you haven't lost weight, I can almost guarantee that the problem is NOT that you haven't been eating enough. A calorie deficit causes weight loss. If there is no weight loss, there is no deficit.

Assuming that you have been tracking everything accurately, then you are probably eating maintenance calories right now. A good place to be is a 20% deficit. I would advise against messing around with very low calories.

You might consider that water weight has a role in this as well.

    No.

After looking at your diary, I've noticed you've gone over your calorie limit more than a few times. Try eating under your calorie goal or exercising more for a consistent amount of time (a month or so) and see if that works. Also, watch the sodium levels.

It's not about the method...TDEE and MFP are basically 6 of 1 if you're doing them right. TDEE - 20% is closer to a 1 Lb per week loss goal for most, sometimes less if you don't exercise much and get that TDEE number up...wheras most people her go straight for the 2 Lb per week goal.

Never-the-less, if you're not losing, it's not the method...it's a lack of adherence or estimation error on your part. If there's one thing I've learned after a year of doing this...it's all about adherence and consistency. When you think about it, a 500 calorie deficit to lose just one pound per week is not a huge amount of wiggle room...it's a couple handfulls of nuts...you have to be on it.

you were over in calories 4 out of 7 days!

that should answer your question quite clearly.

If you are not losing weight after two months of eating like that, you're either eating more than you think, or are less active than you think.

"Eat more" is not a viable answer to either of those scenarios.
