Low/non alcoholic beverages and weight loss

For the last two weeks, i've given up alcohol in a bid to aid a 12 week cut in the run up to Christmas. I'm not really a fan of G&T's or spirits which i know can be low calorie, so i decided to go for non-alcoholic beer. I've found one that actually isn't too bad and will tide me over til Christmas.

However, after 2 weeks, i've compared the labels and it seems like it has pretty much the same nutritional content, minus 60 or so less calories, than a bottle of Stella. So i just wanted to know if it was the alcohol itself that hinders fat/weight loss, or is the point of giving up alcohol the fact that you are giving up the calories? Because if that is the case, i think i'd just rather have half as many bottles of the real stuff!

ps. I know the basic answer is calories in vs. calories out, but i just wanted to know more about alcohols affects on the body and if you think cutting alcohol out of my diet is beneficial specifically to weight loss. Thanks!

  • It's carbonation and sugar in alcohol that make them bad for you, try to stay away form sugary things like winecoolers and alcohol with sodas, it's the sugar that really adds up your calories imo
