Walking

Ok so I'm a college student and I JUST got this app. I was wondering if it's cheat for me to put in when I walk to the dining halls and to classes. It's still semi-exercise. I'm new to how this all works.

I just upped my activity level to compensate rather than logging everything. If I do a long walk I still log it, though0

Ok cool! I was like "I walked 5-10 minutes to get from point A to point B. it may not be much but it should count for something!"0

If you want to log things like that you could set your activity level to sedentary and just log what you want to in terms of walking etc.0

Any walking you do-keep track of it. It all counts and adds up quickly0

I'm down as 'Lightly Active' as I work in retail, so I do a lot of walking in my daily job and don't log that. However, I walk to, and sometimes from, work each day and that's a 20 minute trip each way, so I record that.0

it's not exercise, it's activity. and should be included as part of your tdee setting.0

Set your activity level to sedentary and log all of your activity.
I found it very motivational to see what I accomplished and to up bit by bit.
It also feels really good to see your progress over the long-term.
I'm all about small sustainable changes and working good habits into your life style little by little so you don't have to think about it and it becomes automatic.0 -

This will vary depending on how much you weigh and how quickly you walk...

When I did the MFP method, I set myself as "light active" even though I have a desk job because I do a reasonable amount of walking as well as cooking, cleaning, and fixing crap around the house. I don't log walking as part of my exercise unless I go on a hike or a very long walk. I pretty much limited my exercise logging to those things for which I was really exerting beyond normal effort. If you are set up as sedentary though, you could probably get away with it...just don't get carried away with it.0
