Water Frequency

I've been struggling with my water intake. My basic problem is this: I work nine hour shifts in a situation where I am usually only able to use the restroom once or twice and I don't get any kind of meal break in the middle. Now, given that I am sleeping 8 hours, and need to hold off the water about 2 hours in advance of work, that leaves me 8+2+9=19 hours per day where I have to limit my water intake. That leaves me 5 hours of time to water load. Has anyone else struggled with this? Also, I should premise this by saying I am scared to drink 40 of my 80 ounces right before bed. Suggestions? Should I drink it all in the 3 hours before I have to start limiting?

Can you have a water bottle with you at work? If you can sip 1 or 2 cups at the end of your shift, it will let you space your intake out a bit and may even help you stay alert for that last hour.0

Before you leave your house, when you get to work, during your break(s), after you punch out/leave, and when you get home- lots of opportunity to pee/drink if you can't drink WHILE working... Saving all of your water to do at once will probably just make you feel bloated and of course, have you up at night more than you want to be.
I myself have perfected the peepee dance while at work. 12 hours shifts, maybe two chances to potty on a good day.0 -
I think you're worried too much. I drink 64 to 88oz per day, and I only take one bathroom break at work and sleep through the night just fine. As that includes a big ol glass of water right before bed. Do you know for a fact that you have an issue with frequent urination or are you simply assuming you will? Most people don't seem to have a problem with frequent peeing past the first few days of increased water intake.0

I don't get breaks other than to run to the bathroom but I get your point about right when I punch out.0

I do pee about every hour when I drink 8-16 oz. of water. I do that on the days I don't work. So yes to frequent urination.0

Actually I don't have a problem with frequent urination. I've been told "that's the point" when I have expressed that drinking water makes me pee.0

I have this problem too...recently started drinking 8 ++ glasses of water daily. I also work 12 hr shifts and it can be difficult to get a chance to go to the bathroom. But, don't hold your pee folks, it isn't safe!0
