    Leaves coming off trees is based on the amount of light available each day not the temperature. Works the same for sap running. Signed. Mr. Science.

    Dear Mr. Science:

    Where I live the leaves come off the trees every October when it typically begins to get cold and it turns into winter shortly there after. Therefore because of where I live I equate October with leaves falling off the trees thus turning into winter.

    I don't really care about the amount of light available/not available or what is actually the cause of said leaves coming off the trees but thanks for that enlightening me.

    Girl who doesn't really care why the leaves fall off the trees just knows it signifies the coming of winter where I live.:smile:


    ETA: I never actually said the leaves were blowing off of the trees due to it being cold. I said they are blowing off of the trees AS IT TURNS colder.
