Do you plateau more if you've always been overweight?

I was just wondering because it would make sense to me that the body is used to a certain body fat % for your entire life and losing that would be hard.

Just a personal rundown, I was born heavy and have been heavy all my life. I've never been obese but in my Asian country, where girls can be under 100lbs at 5'2, being 125-135 pounds for my teenage and young adult life wasn't easy. Moreover, this year I graduated from college and my weight ballooned up to 146.6 pounds! I decided that it's time to lose weight before I hit 25 because I want what I actually look like slim ' before my looks start to 'fade' (as conventional wisdom holds). Moreover, I've moved to a different country where I'm staying alone so there's a lot more independence and control over my food choices.

For those who have always been on the chubby side, do you have multiple plateaus more than others? How did you break the plateau? And when was the moment when you realized that you've hit the plateau?

I've been yo-yoing around 140-142 for the past 2 weeks and in the past, I used to yo-yo around 126-135!

I'm just trying to be mentally prepared in case it might take years to get to a comfortable 110-120 range.

I've been fat for 20 years but wasn't until adulthood. I don't feel that I plateau more than anyone else.

I know I'm stuck when the scale doesn't move for 2 weeks. I give it one more, then go off plan for a week. Once I go back on, the plateau breaks and I lose steadily for 2-3 months until it happens again.

Off plan? So you just eat whatever you want/increase calorie intake for a week? How often do you weigh yourself?

I'm currently doing my best to not weight myself everyday, in fact, I'm just going to duct tape the reading portion till a full week has passed!

I don't go crazy, but instead of the 1200-1400 calories I usually eat, I might eat 1800-2000 for a week. It gives my body a little jolt and seems to snap me out of the plateaus.

I weigh myself every day, but I only record what I weigh on Sunday. My weight tends to fluctuate up and down by about .5 - 1 pound for a few days, then I'll see a permanent drop. Don't let the little ups and downs get to you.
