Really random, but...

today I saw an offer on some yogurts in my local Tesco store - 6 for £3, which was a good deal so I chose 6 of them, however, when I got to the checkout, I realised one was past its sell by date and another was the wrong flavour, so I went back to swap them, however, when I got back home, I realised I'd put both of them back and taken only 1 back to the checkout with me, meaning I'd bought only 5 yogurts which cost me £3.25 instead of the 6 for £3.
I'm a real bargain hunter and this is bugging me...quite badly for some strange reason...

Who thinks I should go back, refund the yogurts and then buy them back with an extra one for the cheaper price?

If you have the time I'd do it. Me...I'd probably just let it go.

I wouldn't, that'd be too much hassle for me.
    But whatever floats your boat.

Isn't your time and gas worth more than what you would save?

I was in Tesco recently and there was an "OFFER" on for Doritos.
They cost £1.29 per bag or 2 for £3.
Pointed it out to a manager who said it must have been a mistake.
    I don't think it was.

yogurt is technically a fermented milk product. I'd eat them, just make sure to smell them first...if it smells bad toss it or bring it back to the store (if they were on sale you kind of have to assume they're close to expiration). I have had milk past the expiration date and it was fine....I just checked it each day before hand

It would actually save me calories because I walked to the store (about 15 minutes walking). In all honesty I've got too much to worry about, it was only 90p I'd save anyway...

to save myself stupidly worrying about it I just tore up the receipt so can't do anything about it now - offer's on until 29th October so will just remember to get 6 next time I go shopping

The one I put back on the shelf was the expired one so I'm safe in that sense...twas my own stupidity I'm just annoyed at

You have to watch Tesco's. EG: A pack of two value garlic baguettes can cost more than if buy two of them separately. You would think that buying a double pack would be the same or even slightly cheaper. They know that we often pick up things assuming we are picking up the better deal but not actually comparing the prices.

I've heard about these so-called 'offers' - they've been on watchdog a few times. This genuinely was a multi buy offer though - individually, they are 65p, so 6 of them would cost £3.90.
  • Its a dairy item.. they will not take it back.. no matter what....

just because it says it's expired, it usually has a few days left on it. most of the time it's simply a sell by date where they can't keep it any longer...not when it should be consumed by. but it's always safe to check first

MTE. I'm not rolling in cash, but it'd take a good 5-10 dollars to get me riled up about returning something. I really just can't be bothered. haha.

Just buy one large pot next time. It works out cheaper.

Or go to Asda, they're cheaper and have a wider range of flavours.

Oddly enough, I like the flavor of yogurt that's just past its prime, but hasn't spoiled yet. It gets a slight cheese flavor that's kinda nice.

One is best before (it means best before)
and the other is use by (that means use by)

but +1 on checking food using your senses before jamming it either in your mouth or the bin just by using the date.

no mistake, that's a well known marketing ploy. many shoppers are sheeple, they see the words " 2 for " or similar and assume it's some kind of great deal without doing the math.

Haha that is what I would have had to do I think, too. It would have driven me nuts. I wouldnt have gone back because i woulda felt like that was such an annoying hassle for a few cents. But I would have obsessed that now the cashier was making fun of me for buying less items for more money. Not like they actually care, but I would think they cared, and I would feel really dumb.

I saw them too. It went like this:

ME; "Look, Lucky Charms(tm)! Only £5 a box! Let's get them!"
    *Ironsmasher uplifts the entire display*
WIFE; "No, that's not what the sign means."
