Need Advice for Upper Body Workout Video While Injured

My right foot is all wacky and I have peroneal tendonitis, which is causing me severe pain when I am walking/jogging or anything of the sort. I typically run and do some Insanity, P90X and mix in some Jillian Michaels' videos in there too. However, with this pain in my foot, I cannot really do any of these videos as most are cardio based. I am looking for a workout DVD/video that will still get my heart pumping and some calories burned while I am recovering from the peroneal tendonitis. I do not just want to "give up" on working out because one limb is annoying me. Of course, a video without jumping, running around and all that plyometric stuff would be preferred since I can't really use my foot lol! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance :)

A favorite low impact workout of mine is barre class. They are pretty amazing - I have moved on from classes but Physique 57 is a great program. I don't know your specific limitations, but they have dvds for upper and lower. I think they also have online videos that you can try for $5 before buying the full dvd.

Yep, I really like pilates or ballet mat work when my feet/knees/back don't like the standing that day. It's more lower body or ab work, though. The ballet kind is called floor barre. Ballet Bootcamp I has a nice long floor barre section that is nice and challenging, but you can find several. To try to do cardio on the mat, I do a lot of kicking (like a Rockette routine, basically, lol).

I also do belly dance floor work, but that's obviously not everyone's thing. They do have DVDs just for the floor work, though, so it's worth mentioning in case someone falls in love with it. I did, just for exercise :) That is really great back/core work.

For upper body focus, maybe try some of the balance poses in yoga that rely on the arms. Or you could do any number of weight lifting moves for the upper body on a bench :) I don't know of DVDs, but you can just put the music on!

Thanks. I think I'll look more into the The Complete Physique 57. From what I've read this morning, it looks like something that would be perfect for me and my situation!

sit on a chair and take a 20 pound ball and slam it over and over and over again, that will get you some upper body and get your heart pumping.
