Foot rolling inward while running

Possibly over pronation? I'm not sure. I have only been running a short time, but it feels like my foot rolls to the inside while I run, especially on the right side. Any way to correct this? I try to concentrate on the way I step, and can strike centered on my foot if I think about it, but if I don't think about it, it rolls. Advice?

Are you wearing stability shoes? If not, go get fitted for some.

Think about it more. The more you do, the better you'll get at it.

They do make supportive shoes & insoles, but those are a crutch, which will weaken your feet over time. If you don't need them, it's best to avoid them.

By the way, some pronation (inward rolling) is normal. Over-pronation is not. This video shows over-pronation:

What shoes do you run in (make & model)?

It sounds like you may have an issue with your tibialis tendon which may cause your foot to roll inward. You can get fitted for a she that controls motion. You can also use an arch support to make sure your foot is aligned properly.

It's very likely that you overpronate. I work at a running specialty store and we see this all the time. Your best bet is to find one near you and go in and have them watch you run on a treadmill. That will help them make a recommendation based on your own biomechanics (how you run). Don't buy shoes off the Internet... everyone is different and every shoe is different. You have to find one that is right for you, but a running store can help you narrow down the field so you know the right ones to try on.
