Ok, i'm losing weight i've been contemplating the use of strength training while in a caloric deficit. Is it worth my time even theoretically i won't be gaining any muscle???

You can improve your muscles' efficiency and get functionally stronger even if you don't put on muscle mass (which for me has been awesome). Also, I heard a rumor that if you use your muscles, you won't lose so much muscle mass when you lose weight.
Personally I do strength training while losing because it makes me feel tuff. With the added benefit that if I screw up the nutrition end for a little while, as I did recently, I might put on a wee bit of muscle.0 -
I lost 30 pounds in 4 months doing strength training only, while at a deficit. The point of strength training in a deficit is to try and preserve the muscle you have. Cardio can be beneficial, but I personally don't do any.0

I like to use both during a cut since weight training maintains your muscle mass and cardio helps create a larger deficit so you can eat more and still lose. But that's just me.0
