The continuous journey

My whole life my weight has been an issue. It has always made me feel bad about myself and makes me become a closet eater. Obviously my eating habits have led to health problems such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels and more recently a high cardiac test level (that I can't remember the name of).

6 years ago, I had weight loss surgery. I lost 80 lbs in total and hit my low weight mark of 192. I did fairly well keeping the weight off for the first 4 years. I maintained an average weight of 201. After getting married and having two kids, the weight has started to slowly creep back on. My wife has a high metabolism. After having two kids, she is actually negative weight from when I first met her. She eats what she wants, whenever she wants... it's always a challenge for me to maintain control.

Today, I weigh in at 218 lbs. I know it's not a crazy number by far. After my weight loss surgery, all of my health issues disappeared. After my last doctor visit, they have returned. I have been a member of MyFitnessPal for almost 2 years. I enter my food and exercise everyday. It keeps me honest, but it isn't enough to help me lose the weight. I need to at least get back down to 200 lbs, but would love to be in the 190 area with an increased muscle mass. I hate lifting weights and running, but I enjoy walking as my primary exercise.

I have set a short term goal to lose 15 lbs by Dec. 1. That puts me halfway to my target.

Today, I continue down the never ending journal to eating healthy and losing / maintaining my weight loss. Some days are definitely easier than others!
