skinny fat?

Hi all, forgive me is this is a repeat question.
I've been reading past posts on here and keep seeing "skinny fat" coming up, and although I know what it means, I don't understand how someone can be losing weight, but not inches. For example, I've lost 25 lbs, but haven't gone down any sizes, and my measurements haven't moved more than an inch, if that. It can't possibly be all water weight, can it?
So.. how is that possible? am I becoming "skinny fat"?

Depending on your deficit and your workouts, it can be muscle, it can be coming from a place your not measuring, it can be water weight, it really all depends...0

My deficits are usually 5-700 a week, and my workouts are mostly cardio/walking every day for 30-60 mins. I lift weights once or twice a week but I don't go hardcore. Should I be increasing the weights?0

I woukd increase the weights for sure. You can burn a lot more calories lifting weights than with any cardio!0

Increasing weights is always encouraged, as that will challenge and build your muscles (as will changing up your exercise routine). A lot of people on here have commented on how lifting weights is what really shreds those inches, but you have to be patient with it because it's a slow process.
As to why you're not seeing any changes, have you taken measurements or used your clothes as a guide? It's difficult for us to see changes in ourselves. The other possibility could be that, if you have a lot of weight to lose, it's not as noticeable. A 25 lb loss on a 300 lb person is less noticeable than a 25 lb loss on a 150 lb person - so maybe give it some more time.
Congratulations on your progress so far, and keep it up!0
