Hi, Ok so Im Female - 25 - 147 - 5'4" (as of today scale in gym) I'm away on a year's travelling holiday based in sydney at the moment. I've been trying to eat healthily (Monday to Friday at least) and I seem to be gaining. I know drink at the weekends isn't helping. But I''m wondering does anyone have any advice? I've been going to the gym 3 times a week (classes of running 3-5 k) and doing walks at the weekend. I've always struggled to get the pounds down and was in to resistance training before we left Ireland in July. I've noticed my sugar intake is up from fruit and skimmed milk but should I be curbing this even though it's good sugars (I assume). Also I'm having carbs for dinner, a bit of rice, sweet potato etc. is this a terrible idea?? I'm trying to balance things and am using MFP app to keep at 1200 a day (or there abouts) surely this should be enough to budge my weightt a bit?? :(

My bf is super slim (not due to healthy eating which is annoying cause he doesn't get how hard it is) and I'm starting to feel like a whale beside him (not that he ever mentions that) I've gone through phases of constantly moaning about my weight and hating my shape...just feel like I need an outlet and some words of wisdom from people who get that it's not easy.

Thanks in advance for the help and advice!!

The past few days in your diary look pretty balanced which is good and you are sticking to your calories which is also good so kudos to you. Most people do not worry about the sugar coming from natural sources too much unless you have a medical reason to do so. Added sugars on the other hand should be monitored. Its hard so say if there is any truth to the when you eat stuff theories floating around so I would not stress too much about them if I were you.

How long have you been working on your new diet/workout routine. A few things to keep in mind: everyones body reacts differently, some people see immediate drops; I personally have to diet for about 2 weeks before I will see any results. Just how I work I guess. If you went from not exercising to having a whole new routine then you body will tend to hold water for a few days even possibly weeks. Its part of the process of your muscles healing themselves and nothing to be worried about. If you are sore alot from working out that might be a good indicator that you are still in that phase.

Common problems people have that messes up their losses are over estimating calories burned. If you are using MFPs calories burned then they are probably over estimated, alot of people only count 3/4 of their exercise to balance that out. The other side of this is that alot of people underestimate what they are eating. Make sure you are really sticking to the proper portions and measuring out food so you know what you are really eating.
