I am, and have been in the biggest "funk" for about 3 wks now! I don't know what it is but just can't seem to shake it! I've been able to push through and do right up until this last weekend. I had final weigh in at a boot camp competition that I was in on Thurs and our month weigh in was then too so I caved this weekend and ate whatever I wanted and did not workout at all (except for cutting down and moving a tree that had fallen at the in-law's). I have got to get back in the swing of things. I only have about 10 more pounds until I reach my goal weight and would LOVE to be able to reach that in the next month, month and a half. Anybody been here or have any suggestions???? I think I need a Caribbean getaway with a nice hammock and umbrella drink!

That has happened to me more than once! Fortunately, I have a great workout buddy that doesn't let me quit (I return the favor when she's down). She can't help with what I eat though and I have to find that on my own. I will start thinking things like its so much easier to be fat blah blah blah. I've found that what works for me is to just eat whatever it is that I'm craving, put it behind me, and keep moving forward. Often after eating so much salt, I feel dried out, I sleep poorly, and I get heartburn or other nasty tummy issues. It's pretty easy to get back in the swing then!

Another thing I've done is to go to the mall and walk. While I'm there I swing into at least one store and try on something in my 'old size' and my 'new size'. Wakes my brain up a bit! :D
  • I seem to get into the funk every couple weeks (I think its more PMS)...at first I thought I would head right back into my bad habits but I just let it ride and forced myself to work out still. But EVERY day I start good and see where the day goes and I have been able to swing things around my making the attempt in the morning and one of those days I just go back to eating better and the rest of the days start follows suit. does that make sense at all? my coffee hasnt kicked in and I am still squinting at the screen.
I just try to go one day at a time and always start fresh the next day no matter what.

Sometimes I just have to make myself do it. Like doing the dishes when it could totally go one more day. Or going grocery shopping when you would rather stay at home and watch a movie. Sometime I just have to make myself move. Generally, if I can get myself going (especially to the gym) I feel far more accomplished after.

I guess what I'm saying is I find my motivation in the opposite direction. I'm not motivated before doing...I'm motivated by having already done. Sort of like the business strategy... "Happy workers do not make productive workers....productive workers make happy workers."

I'm not much on the motivational speeches. The funny thing is, you know you can do it. We all know we can do it. So it's up to us to "Just do it." It's easier said than done of course, but it's up to us to change our minds. Meditate on it, literally. Sit in a room by yourself and think about it. Remember why you are doing this. Write it down or simply say it out loud to yourself. Or, while you're thinking on it, do a push up every time you have a negative or demotivational thought.

I have faith that you can do it.

    Good luck!
