Watching the Film "Memphis Belle" at the weekend which was filmed at the old WW2 RAF Binbrook Air Base, Lincolnshire, England a couple of miles from where I live. It struck me, on the runway scenes that I run all around the hills in the background.

Although the base was 'Americanised' for the film and used as the site of Flying Fortresses it was actually a Lancaster Bomber base in WW2.

Where is the coolest/most unusual place that you run .... just tell us we can all Google it.

As an aside there is a bloke in the village of Binbrook who has a actual Lightning Fighter Plane in his front garden as a garden ornament ... that's what I call cool (unfortunately the Mrs disagrees - spoil sport!)

I don't think the place I run is interesting at all. However, other people seem to like it. It shows up I in movies a lot. I run the Charles River in Boston about 5 days a week. There is a 10 mile loop I cover just about every weekend. I mean, it's probably one of the best places you could find to run, it's just I do it a lot.

There is a coastal trail run I do from my house. I live less than a mile from the ocean. It's called the Lands End Trail - http://sanfrancisco.about.com/od/environmentnature/ss/landsendphotos.htm. I can take the tiniest of detours off that trail and there is a very cool labyrinth - http://www.jmg-galleries.com/articles/san_francisco_labyrinths.html.

Then I connect to the Batteries to Bluffs trail - http://www.presidio.gov/explore/trails/Pages/batteries-to-bluffs-trail.aspx where I can run across old WWII batteries. And finally I continue on the trail to the Golden Gate Bridge plaza. Then I run through the Presidio and back home.

It's a spectacular 9 mile loop that I do at least once a week with variations depending on my mood. Not an easy route as there are plenty of hills and stairs but the views can't be beat. I have also seen pods of dolphins which is really cool.

I like to run through lecture rooms at my school.

    When they're full.

    All whilst screaming 'THEY'RE COMING!'

    Naked.

i run a loop that includes a few kilometers of the bruce trail - it runs from niagara up to the bruce peninsula. there are waterfalls and japanese tourists a plenty. but however scenic, i still have to watch my step, so i don't usually see much of it...
still, i am working on talking my husband into dropping me off at an access point on the other end of the city, so i can run a bit more of it...

While on a work trip, I ran the Vegas strip early enough one morning that there weren't many people, except a few other runners out there.

That was neat. I'm going back in a month or so and hope to do it again.
  • Running the backroads and trails around my parents house in Fairbanks, Alaska. Noone is ever there. I see more moose than people. It's awesome!

I live one mile away from Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa-one of the longest continuous sidewalks that runs along Tampa Bay. I see dolphins, seabirds and jumping fish.

WOW, I would love to run if I had that nice of a view. It looks gorgeous.
The most unusual place I've gone running is on country roads near where I live. It's actually quite boring after a while. Cows and rows of corn, then rows of barley, rows of soy beans, fields smothered in manure... Nothing that fancy. -_- http://farm2.staticflickr.com/1279/531875866_cfb7d18317.jpg
