Which should I focus more on?..

I have about 45-55 lbs to lose until I am at where I should be. I have noticed that I am trying to keep everything in line from my sodium levels under 2300 and all my macros. So my question is should I focus more on my calorie goal or the macros? Should I alter my macros or keep what MFP recommends?

Calories come first for weight loss. Macros can help with body composition and feeling full. Eating a diet higher in protein, fat and fiber helps us feel fuller and more satisfied. A lot of us feel like MFP's protein deficit is set too low. Consider it a minimum rather than a maximum.

Focus on your calories until or if you have some reason to need to track macros. Don't make life more difficult than it needs to be.

Calories. That's the bottom line. If you want to lose weight, you have to do the math. Math will never let you down.

If you've got other health goals, you can focus on sodium and macros and whatever else, but you'll never lose weight unless you're in a calorie deficit—consuming fewer calories than you expend in a day. Period.

As others have said, calories come first. It helps me to have priorities for my macros too though. I generally plan ahead a day or so for my meals so I aim to hit calories first, protein second, fiber third, and then get as close as possible for fat. If I do that and go over on carbs or sodium, I still feel pretty good. I think this has helped me at this early stage a lot in terms of almost always feeling full.

Depends on your goal. If you want a solid beach body than you oughtta be doing strength training and eating a proper amount of protein. Typically that would be 1 gram per pound of bodyweight or thereabouts.
