Dressing up for Halloween?

I am planning my department Halloween party and I am especially excited for my fan-freakin-tastic Red costume (the prison chef from Orange is the New Black).
Anyone else got a clever costume plan? And if you MUST be a sexy nurse, OK, you're proud of your body and that's good - but not clever. I'm interested in thoughtful ideas here.

<--- I went to my daughter's birthday costume party as James Joyce. My wife was Nora Barnacle. Only one person knew who we were, but it was a fun outfit combo.

Last year i went and got 50 gray paint swatches and taped them all together... wrapped a string around it and wore it around my neck... I was 50 shades of gray. ;)

The party host and his GF are dressing as Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl.

Syndrome is my choice therefore this year....

I am really looking forwards to the havoc that I will cause...

Last year I was part of a slutty bananas in pyjamas duo with my best friend. This year, I'm thinking I will be Ginger Spice.

Thanks! She had a blast... though I couldn't convince her to wear a silver dance costume like Lucia Joyce, sadly.

I'd love to see your Red costume OP!

None for me, I just have no ideas and mostly no idea what I'd fit in, and costume stores don't really let you try things on.

My fiance and I are going as zombies or ghouls. We're also getting married that day. Thursday we're going to go looking around Halloween stores for costumes and makeup. Should be fun!

Congratulations! Some friends got married about 18 months ago and their vows included a disclaimer in the event of a zombie apocolypse.

Haven't decided. It always comes down to the last minute with me based on what strikes my fancy that I can put together using what I have with a few inexpensive props from WallyWorld or KMart. I was a pirate last year.

Another reason I make my own! I modded a $20 chefs coat which I fully intend to wear for cooking later. Last year I borrowed a lab coat from work to be the scientist in charge of the UFO crash landing site on my front porch.

Spiders were two years ago. I'm super phobic so that was the scariest thing I could do! I did buy spider fairy wings that were too snug. The rest of the costume was fashioned out of random things and lots of little plastic spiders.

I'm actually going as a character from DC Comics. Zatanna Zatara. I'm really, REALLY hoping to find a Batman or Catwoman at our Halloween party.
Either way, it's the first time I've ever felt confident enough to pull off a costume like this. <3

We're going as Daenerys and Ser Jorah from Game of Thrones.

But this dress instead of the pink and leather one.

    Daenerys_Qarth_zps0fbd3cfc.jpg

Completely homemade. He has "chain mail" (sweater spray painted silver, needs more paint) and armor made from pizza and cereal boxes. (It's not delivery, it's Ser Jorah!)

    IMAG1221-1_zps4339a178.jpg

I started out using gold braid for the armor on my dress, but then saw a tutorial on how to make it with hot glue that looked amazing, so I tore it off and started over.

    All finished and painted...

    IMAG1218-1_zps180297af.jpg

And because I tend to go overboard, I also made my three baby dragons out of paper mache.

    IMG_6235_zps64ecdb13.jpg

The gold one raps around my forearm, the green will perch on my shoulder, and the black one will be mounted on a rod so that he looks like he's flying on a leash above me.
