Hi Everyone,
I found the chart I see mentioned on MFP a lot, and input my information.
Based on my stats, and 1 hour of cardio, I get:
BMR 1431
TDEE 1885
TDEG 1680
Deficit 205
But I want to start lifting weights. So when I add on an hour for lifting I get
BMR 1431
TDEE 1933
TDEG 1577
Deficit 356
Does this make sense to anyone? I'm a newbie when it comes to lifting weights, but I guess I assumed that if anything I should be eating the same amount or more adding in weights. But the calculations above say I should eat less (1577 vs 1680)
Did I mess up?

It makes sense. The calorie recommendations are based on the fact that you burn more calories DURING the workout from cardio than you would from weight lifting. Calculators don't account for the excess post oxygen consumption (EPOC) which is greater after weight lifting. If you're hungry after reaching your calorie target then add an additional snack. More protein would be best if you've incorporated heavy lifting.0

Whats TDEG?0

Are you saying that is what it gave you when you added weightlifting to your cardio or
When you traded the cardio out for weightlifting?0 -
I can't advise on the numbers you provided, but what I can say is that I find myself needing more fuel (food) since I've started putting some extra "umph" in my weight lifting. I eat 1,600-1,800 calories a day and I'm losing weight (it's now .5 for the last 10 pounds). I also do cardio with more intensity because I don't have those extra 23 pounds on me (isn't it funny how that works?
