Greetings from Church of Christ

Hello,

Have been on here for a little while now, but needing more friends. Looking for members of the Church of Christ or others who are trying to real food and are aligned with WAPF.

Thanks!

    THIS should go well...

Oh, and welcome. You will learn a lot quickly.
  • I genuinely mean this with all possible respect, but what difference do you think someone's religious beliefs make to their health and fitness regime?

There are groups on here for christians. You're better off looking for them. Religion doesn't belong on the forums for a reason.

I'm not religious, but who cares if she is trying to find friends that share her religion? Just because a post mentions religion doesn't mean it has to be "controversial". Live and let live.

It is inappropriate to be venomous when someone asks a simple question, even if, and ESPECIALLY if, you disagree with their religious affiliation.

Maybe you guys aren't eating enough or something, but if you need that badly to be snarky, LOOK WITHIN!

I wasn't being venomous. I was just parroting the rules. And I eat plenty.

what is the difference between her looking for someone from her religion vs someone from say... her age group, her state, her ED, dress size, diet type{vegan, carnivore, rubber sole shoe eaters} or hair color?

    There is none.

As for the OP, I would suggest looking up Christian guilds.

Mom? Seriously sounds just like my mom. Do you like The Grateful Dead too?

but I do feel bad for the OP, she had no idea what kind of scary trolls lurk in the shadows of MFP. You gotta pay the toll.

Diet type is a major conflict here at MFP.

This. Being a Christian gives a person certain beliefs and views. A Christian wanting to have Christian friends makes as much sense as one of those weird Doctor Who fans wanting to be friends with other weird Doctor Who Fans. Don't give someone crap because they are religious and you aren't.

especially with the bacon eaters, lol

But in all seriousness, the difference is that religion is considered a divisive topic and therefore against the MFP Community Guidelines. Some people are anti-theists and will jump at any chance to argue or belittle someone's religious beliefs. While some Christians will also get nasty and suggest someone needs to pray to lose weight. It is best to keep that sort of thing in private groups with like-minded people.

Supernatural divinities are the primitive's answer for why the sun goes down at night.
They are also the answer to the 'visions' that primitive's had when ingesting moldy rye bread and other pshycadelic goodies.
  • one of those weird Doctor Who fans

Hey! I resemble that remark! :P

Agree, but given she has only 15 posts I feel she might not of known that bit. A lot of people, just jump on without reading the Terms of Service or Form Guidelines

Greetings back at you from the Unity Church, the one with the ankh and the om and the cross and the spirit bear and the yin/yang symbol in front of it.

If you are puzzled and somewhat huffy about "Why the heck would I want greetings from THEM?" then you now understand why some on here might react negatively to you. And if you are all "Greetings, hi!" then I'd offer you a doughnut but unfortunately all I can have in the house is flaxseeds and yogurt. :-(

I wish you the very best my dear. I'm sure there is a group for people of most religions in MFP. You may want to do a search. Welcome to MFP.

Discussing about religion is considered divisive in the main forums, but i think the OP is asking for directions to a group, where such discussion would be OK. Point 15:
Divisive topics, particularly those that seek input from or are relevant only to a select group of users, are better placed within an appropriate Group rather than the Main Forums. For example, topics relevant to only one religion should not be placed on the main forums but rather within a group related to that religion.

Point 4 of the Community Guidelines state:
No derogatory references to sex, gender, weight, body-type, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation, or endorsement of violence against any person or group, even if couched in humor, will be permitted. This includes expressing stereotypes about any group or community.

So, if you know about a group help the OP to find it; if you don't, you should not attack someone for whatever weird beliefs they hold.

    Dear Posters,

I wanted to provide a brief explanation for locking this topic. This topic is welcome to continue in an MFP group.

The forum guidelines include this item:

    15. Divisive Topics Are Better Suited For Groups, Not the Main Forums

Divisive topics, particularly those that seek input from or are relevant only to a select group of users, are better placed within an appropriate Group rather than the Main Forums. For example, topics relevant to only one religion should not be placed on the main forums but rather within a group related to that religion. We reserve the right to move any topic to a relevant public Group which interested members may join if they wish to continue to participate.

    Our community guidelines also include:
    2. No Hi-Jacking, Trolling, or Flame-baiting

Please stay on-topic within a forum topic. Off-topic or derogatory remarks are disrespectful. Please either contribute politely and constructively to a topic, or move on without posting. This includes posts that encourage the drama in a topic to escalate, or posts intended to incite an uproar from the community.
Please report posts you feel are a violation of our guidelines instead of trolling the topic.
