Hoping for some ideas, not sure how to deal with this.

I will make this as short as possible.
I have an extremely sarcastic chauvinist next door.
My husband golfs with him and I used to invite him, his wife and other neighbors over for dinners.
He has finally pushed me over the limit and now if he comes outside I go inside right away and avoid any conversation with him.
My husband suggested talking to him about this matter. I declined thinking it would just make matters worse.
Should I speak my mind to him or stay quiet and ignore him ?
So badly ! I want to tell him how irritating he is but I know he is not ever going to change.
Thanks for any responses.

Can you fight fire with fire & quip right back at him?
If not then just pull him up on something really unfunny/derogatory & make him look stupid over it.
Many men think they are far more hilarious than they actually are - he might just be trying to get a few laughs if he feels awkward about conversations in general.0 -
Last comments he made I just looked at him and calmly said "What the hell is that supposed to mean ?"
Then he switched gears and started asking me for assistance with his TV remote....Please.
He only does this when his wife is not around hearing his sarcasm. In a group, he is not this way.
I am leary about speaking to him because I think he wants to "know" that his comments bother me.
But I guess I could try and if that does not work then I just ignore him or just tell him to SHUT UP, DON'T TALK TO ME.
And I will NEVER cook dinner for you , ever again.
Ahhh I hate having close neighbors that have a higher sitting lot. Thank God they only live here 1/2 of the year.0
