Different types of protein powder

Hi!

Was wondering if someone can shed some light on the different types of protein powders (plant vs whey vs soy)... benefits of one versus the other, what your preference is, etc. Thanks!

  • I think it really depends on what you "believe". Personally, a lot of animal protein powders don't come from reliable sources and are full of GMO etc.. If you go with a whey (animal) look for grass-fed/organic.

For me, I eat a lot of meats, red meat included, so I do an organic GMO free veggie protein. I prefer to stay away from soy as it can irritate the digestive system and also is not GMO free. I SWEAR up and down by Sunwarrior Warrior Blend in Vanilla. I don't drink protein as much as I use it to bake, in muffins, breads pancakes etc. You can use it like a flour.

Check it out on Amazon or Vitacost, both great prices.

If you prefer animal- check out Tara's Whey. I think they usually have samples at Whole Foods, or at least single serving packets.

All in all- you are better off to avoid anything with soy.

    Hope that helps!
