Help - no kitchen for a spell

Due to a dishwasher leak, my kitchen has been rendered unuseable for a spell. I have access to my fridge and a microwave, but no stove or oven for the time being and not sure when that will change. I need ideas for healthy food options for my three boys and I. Your advice & ideas are much appreciated.

I haven't had a cooker for about 3 months now as it's broken and I can't afford a new one yet. Most foods can be microwaved, even meat. You can get steam bags, just add the meat and any herbs etc then cook in the microwave. I even cook veggies in the microwave in the steam bags. Or you could invest in a steamer.0

I traveled for 16 years and became an expert at microwave cooking to stay away from restaurants. Eggs are quick and easy for breakfast, just be sure to pop the yolk. Chicken breast and salmon fillets do lovely in the microwave - sprinkle with lemon juice and herbs of your liking - they come out poached. Far East brand has some delicious couscous and rice pilaf varities that cook nicely in the microwave. Any veg, asaparagus, broccoli florets, cauliflower florets, beans all steam nicely in a microwave bowl with a smidge of water, covered in plastic wrap for 3-5 min. depending on quantity. I even have an ez recipe for cheese sauce in the microwave - melt 2 TBSP unsalted butter in 2 cup glass cup, add 2 TBSP flour, blend then cook 1 min. add 1 cup milk, blend and cook 30 seconds at a time and stir between each until thickness you like. Add 1/2 cup of your favorite cheese and stir to melt. THIS is how I got my kid to eat ANY veg. Oatmeal plumps nicely in the microwave, as do grits and polenta to which I add a little cheese. Applegate brand has lovely, all natural sliced meats for sandwiches and also microwaveable breakfast sausages that are low in calories and sodium (if you choose the chicken or turkey kind). Hans makes some delish chicken sausages that can be heated in microwave - also low in calories, sodium and come in a wide variety of flavors.0

Slow Cooker- can cook anything
Electric frying pan- plug in and use as you would a normal frying pan, although electric ones are square vs. round
Waffle iron- you can cook a surprising number of things in one of these. Look up ideas online.
or Electric/Counter-top burner.
Good Luck!0 -
slow cooker?
Hot plate?
Edit: jinx! with Squamation ...lol....also what about a toaster oven. I LOVE those things in the summer when it's too hot for the oven.0 -
Do you have a grill? My oven broke and I just started using the grill for everything. We also have a fairly large toaster oven (they are pretty inexpensive if you don't already have one).0

Oh, and you could also pick up a portable stove. I had one of these in college.

My oven hasn't been working either I use the crock pot and foreman grill. Also taster oven for french fries, sweet potato fries, nuggets etc. As the others said veggies can be microwaved.0

stop casting spells, it seems to be making your kitchen worse!
Do you have a grill or hibachi?
I mostly use a crock pot to cook, there are tons of stuff to make.0 -
Crockpot, grill, microwave...all of them will work out with a nice variety. Steamed veggies in the microwave are better for you too!!0
