Sushi has got to be the greatest diet food ever. High in iron, potassium, fiber, and pretty much every other healthy thing you could look for. My friends and I went out for dinner this evening and I was terrified about my calorie count, and it turns out that despite having 2 6-piece sushi rolls, a salad with ginger vinegrette, and miso soup I only used up about 500 calories.

Any other sushi fans?

not a big sushi guy, although I broke down and had some the other night, the spicey tuna was ok.
I AM, on the other hand, a HUGE fan of King Crab! Had 3 legs 390 calories, and 1/5 cup of butter was another 160 calories but I didn't use it all. Course, lots of saturated fat in butter but it was my cheat night so I didn't mind all that much.

When I logged in my sushi for one 6 piece roll I had for dinner was 620. uggggh. I guess I could've gotten something slightly more healthy than a california roll, but really, 620?
next time i'm just getting a cucumber salad and a raw salmon nigiri so there's no guilt factor there.
  • DUDE SUSHI IS MY FAVORITE! if I could I'd ****ing eat it every single day! I love sushi!

I am so grateful for my friends.... We call our girls night out the "Sushi Stroll". My BF lives a few blocks from the BEST sushi place in town. We walk to the store, get two bottles of the best wine, walk to the sushi bar, opem the first bottle and share it with the sushi chef. The chef knows our "rules" no white rice, no mayo, nothing fried, other than that he has free rein to do as he pleases. We eat and eat and eat! By the end of the night we're doing sake bombs, and spent over $100 bucks on sushi. Anyhow, as you can tell I love sushi!

I'm not much of a fish eater, but I have wanted to try sushi for years. I was recently told by some coworkers that it is not really raw fish. Is this true? Does anyone have any suggestions of something for a beginner to try? I want to introduce it to my son.

Not all sushi is raw... it's a common misconception that MANY people have. Something easy and safe to try for beginers would be a California Roll. It's nothing more than crab avacado and cucumber. simple yet delicious!

I love sushi too!! We have this stand that makes it at our mall in town and they make freash sushi everyday. At 6:00 it all goes on sale at 50% because they don't want old sushi. I usually buy a couple of small boxes and that's what dad and I have for lunch the next day:happy:

Mmm, sushi. I love flying fish roe.
Here are a few of my favourite ways to order sushi:
Temaki -- These are cone-shaped seaweed rolls. Sort of like a sushi burrito.
Nigiri -- Instead of a roll, the fish is placed on a piece of rice. You get much more fish this way.
Bara -- Everything you would expect in a regular sushi roll, but just mixed like salad.
Inari -- Tofu istead of rice.
    Shashimi -- just the fish/eel/urchin/etc
