Calorie Burn Accuracy - Rowing

I've seen various posts by people wondering what machines are accurate/not accurate for calorie burn. I just did a 5k row on a Concept 2 rower, wearing a bodymedia device, and the rower and my bodymedia agree quite well. So at least for rowing, where presumably the calorie burn is calculated by measuring how much energy you're applying to the flywheel, the readout is pretty accurate.

P.S. And for what it's worth, quite low: about 200kcals or a bit less to row 5k in 30m. Considering I burn almost 50kcals sleeping for the same amount of time, the net 150 kcals of burn is definitely not the reason to work out - I have to remind myself it's about building cardio and muscle capacity that will have their own health benefits (and burn more calories all the time, not just on the rower...)

The calorie readout on the C2 is a generic number. The C2 measures workload accurately, but the displayed calorie number is not individual. To get a more accurate calorie number you have to go to the C2 website and plug your display number into their calculator.
