Night-time snacks

Is it bad to have something like toast or cereal before bed? It fits in with my calories but is it too heavy for a night-time snack??

I think people are different...I eat every 2-3 hours all day, and I only stop about an hour before I go to bed. Usually I have popcorn or some crackers and a spread, or something. I just read in a magazine yesterday that having an apple before you go to bed is good - can't remember why, exactly but I do recall reading it!

Fits in target calories + does not interfere with sleep = go for it.

Eat what you want if it fits your goals.

A little protein will go a long way. Maybe some milk with that snack.

Nope. Peanut butter toast is one of my favorite late night snacks. The body isn't on a time clock, calories in are calories in whether you eat them all before 7pm or eat your last 400 at 10pm. As long as it doesn't interfere with your sleep and it fits in your calories, you're fine.
  • Thanks for the replies.

I'm glad it's ok as i tend to stay up until about 1am but eat my last meal at 5/6pm so can't help but snack.

Actually carbs digest really quickly. Proteins tend to take longer to digest if you were worried about having something in your stomach interfering with sleep.
