Why does cottage cheese make me fuller than greek yogurt?

Meal 1: 1cup fat free cottage cheese + fruit and nuts
Meal 2: 1 cup greek yogurt + same fruit and nuts

They have almost identical protein, yet i feel fuller on cottage cheese more than greek yogurt, arent they both similar?

Its been the same case each time, what makes it so im fuller on one more than the other? i believe they are both casein protein.

Thinking of doing a complete switch to cottage cheese, only problem is the sodium level.

    it may have something to do with the type of milk that is used to make one or the other....
    I went to a cheese making class recently and to make cheese you can only use non-homogenised milk (when the milk is homogenised the molecules are broken up to make it easier for dairies doing mass production to give the same level of everything in each carton - ie homogenise it)

    When the molecule is broken it can no longer become cheese - it is also supposed to be the reason why it's harder for a lot of people to digest milk these days.

    Yoghurt can be made with either milk type

    Maybe that breaking down of the milk to make it 'uniform' effects your satiety levels?

    I'm totally guessing here - but if both your cottage cheese and your yoghurt are made from non-homogenised milk though, this is totally incorrect.....

    What kind of cheese was the class discussing. I made Indian Cheese (paneer) at home with homogenized whole milk... boil milk, add lemon juice, strain, and press. It worked fine, but it is not supposed to be aged, really flavorful cheese.

    we made quark, feta and cream cheese in class and (1 day) and had instructions on how to make brie using the same ingredients.

    I have now googled a bit and found this quote

    which proves your statement... I swear we were lectured at for about 30 minutes on the bad of homogenised...

    I like cottage cheese better. I think it may be because you actually need to chew it. Similar to people not recognizing liquid calories.

    It's hard to say without knowing exactly what brand/style of greek yogurt and cottage cheese you're eating. Some cottage cheese has added fiber. Some greek yogurt is more natural/traditional than others or could have fillers or added sugar. Difference in fat content can have a major factor as well as fat is more filling, much like protein.

    Everything else being equal, I think it takes longer for your body to break it down because it's chunkier. Of course, that's a total guess.

    could it have to do with the salt? cottage cheese typically has much more salt than greek yogurt. And I tend to feel fuller when I have more salt.

    also cottage cheese has casein - not sure if this makes a difference?
