And inefficient?! It is like at least two people are doing nothing at any given time.

bc they're unionized and never wanted anything more from life so they are spiteful against anyone else in the outside world because of their own stubborn resentment

Its one reason I use UPS whenever possible. The P.O. is ALWAYS losing or losing track of my packages. And if they do, its, "Well, there's nothing I can do about it,...NEXT!"

I've noticed that very few people even acknowledge the existence of service people..the people who clean offices, clear up dishes, pick up the towels at gyms. Those people are treated as if they are invisible.

If you smile at someone, ask them how their day is going...it makes a world of difference.

I also say hello to our mailperson and make sure to leave her a gift for Xmas. (Her name is Bridget, she has 4 kids...)

The work sucks, the pay sucks, the people you have to deal with everyday are belligerent and annoying, because they have to deal with a high-volume workload on very little time and typically their hours are irregular.
Why is nearly any other service oriented employee in the United States so miserable? Because this country has awful standards and regulations for that kind of work.

They have almost no accountability. Because govt union.

Because if they were pleasant, you'd think you were at the wrong place.

Because they have the same discussions all day every day. Kind of like the forums.

It has nothing to do with unions and everything to do with industries trying harder and harder to reduce liability, this is common for any business, from corporate down to non-profit.

That is so true. I always say good morning or afternoon to the cleaning staff. Without them cleaning the bathroom, my day will not be the same. There is nothing worse than using a dirty bathroom - and I applaud them for their work, even if they are getting paid for it.

Their pay is pretty decent with good benefits. And the work is monotonous, not hard.

They're super-nice where I come from! Rural-type places, that is. We always give our mailman cookies and fudge on holidays.

I am always pleasant to people and I also give my delivery person a Christmas gift.

OK I will say they have started tracking the actual carriers to know where they are. The carriers themselves have had to start doing more. And get yelled at by some customers and usually the post master...I'd be cranky too if everyone yelled at me

I worked as a clerk for ten years at the po. The mailmen are on a schedule and they the supervisors always ride their butt to rush rush rush. They even have barcodes in some mail boxes they have to scan to let the supervisors know where they are etc. Clerks are always shorhanded and deal with some crazy rude people every day. I had a woman who brought her 25 year old son to kick my butt because i wouldnt put stamps on her letters for her. lol The post office is full of peopple who do nothing and a few who work hard and it wears on the good workers till they just dont care. Not that I am making excuses cause I dont work there anymore just letting you know its a horrible work environment filled with supervisors with no experience. Just my thoughts.

Nothing I'm reading constitutes a valid reason for being rude. Their job sucks? Yeah, so does mine. So what? You don't get a pass to be rude to me just because the last guy was rude to you. Put on your big kid pants and be polite.

Because they can operate at a loss, thus delivering more cheaply.
  • My mom works for the PO and says they're HORRIBLE to work for...

But I'd bring in 50-100 packages every 4ish days... And they were ALL ****s to me exc one man...

I'm just standing here like my cart full of packages literally pays your salary....please be nice to me.
  • They probably get yelled at by people like me, because they lose my packages. I had two things coming to me last week and when they were late I spoke to him and he said he didn't know where they went. After arguing for a few moments he decided to check the whole truck and what do you know there was one of my packages. The other he said he scanned it and already put it out. Do your damn job right then cuz you put it in the wrong box. Im sure im going to have a lot more missing mail now.
