is there a difference between Nike app and Nike+running?

I've been dabbling with running 5k for the last couple of months, and have decided I really enjoy this and would like to continue..
perhaps its time I actually see how I'm doing.
what are the differences? is there a preference?

been wondering the same thing... i think they are set out to do the same thing, only the running app is more specific. it also requires updates now and then, which the other one doesn't do (maybe it's just some old relic of a brain fart someone in PR had...)
seen as the running app is free, there's no reason not to download it0
