HRM anomoly

Hi,
I tried using my HRM while I was on the treadmill doing intervals of 7km/hr -> 10 km/hr and alternating for one minute on each. I am pretty darn unfit so I was heaving the whole time. I'm 170 lbs.
My HRM said I burned 500 cals in 30 minutes. Does that sound a bit high? Anomoly maybe? I'm sure it was turned on right and started at zero because I've used it a few times before.

Not sure...I have a hrm and feel like it estimates my calories burned high as well. I don't usually worry and only use it as a guide.0
