Definitely not gastric bypass!
I know at least two ladies who opted for it and regained their weight back within a two years. One of them also ended up having serious complications from the surgery. Not worth it imo.0 -

Yes. Big brother is always watching.
I don't know anyone who has had the bypass, but I know several people who have had the gastric sleeve. They have lost all their weight (60+kg) within 1 year. But they can't eat normal food. One friend lives on junk because that's all that will go down.0 -
Someone I know had gastric bypass and, from what I heard, gained some weight back. She had told me once that she's not sure she would have done it if she'd given it more thought. She was very obese and convinced she could not lose weight any other way.
I think you have to be 100 pounds or more before you can become a candidate for gastric bypass, but if I'm wrong someone please correct me.
I've not been that overweight before (close to it by 30 pounds, though), but I would not consider it at all.0 -
My friend who was over 400 lbs had gastric bypass surgery. She got down to about 150, then got pregnant, her babies now 3 months old, shes currently a little over 200, and trying to lose weight again. Shes still nowhere near as big as her heaviest weight. So she still struggle with her weight, even after having it done. So the weight loss journey is hard for every-one, even those that had surgery to try and fix their obesity.0

No lie. I've thought seriously about it. I went through a couple consultations and looked into what it would take to finance. I was really desperate and convinced that I couldn't do it on my own. I just had (and still have) so so much weight to lose and I wanted it gone and to have help doing it. As part of researching it, I started watching some successful people who have had it as well as the lap band and gastric sleeve that vlog on youtube. They all treat it as a tool and had to work through their root issues with food and why they overeat in the first place to keep the weight off. They still have to exercise they still have to portion and weigh their food. They are still making effort daily to maintain the weight they lost and it wasn't the "easy fix" that I foolishly assumed it would be. People that didn't fix the relationship with food regained. People that didn't exercise regained, etc. So personally I decided not to do it - it wasn't worth the risks of surgery/recovery to me when you have to work just the same as without it. Some people really need that tool to physically stop the overeating and get weight off quickly to save their life. I didn't need that but I wouldn't judge anyone who does and makes the decision to get weight loss surgery.0

My friend was so obese when she had her surgery, she had to drop about 50 lbs. before her doctors would do the gastric bypass.0 -

can't be true.....i have ads for medical insurance right now which I've never searched either plus im not a fan of pain wouldn't even consider it and since i don't have a big appetite I've gained weight do to not being mobile for a few years due to injury and eating junk food so I doubt it a gastric bypass would do me any good0 -

If you have done searches or looked at stuff dealing with medical issues it could pop up medical insurance ads. Also if you looked up anything dealing with weight loss, quick weight loss, diet pills etc, that could bring up the add for gastric bypass.0 -
I know someone who had gastric bypass. She is very happy with it and follows her diet regimen to the t. However, she did say that it took having the surgery to make her realize that she could have lost the weight without the surgery.0
