Struggling to get to goal!

I'm in need of some HUGE help to get rid of my last 10lb or so! I've lost just over 60lb's in total, but these last 10 are proving to be a killer to get rid of! :-(

I've definitely cracked this whole maintenance business, as I've been hovering between the same 3 numbers of the last 4-6 months. BUT I DON'T WANT TO MAINTAIN JUST YET!

I know exactly why I've not lost recently & that's due to WEEKENDS! Once the weekend arrives my routine goes straight out of the window & that's when I start to drink a lot of alcohol & indulge in crappy food with friends!

I've decided that I'm going to loose this last bit of weight before Christmas arrives - but I know it's going to be tough for me.

Does anyone else struggle with staying on track at weekends? Do you have any tips on how I can attempt to stick to a routine, even when socialising? I'm always out of a weekend so I find it hard to make the right choices & that's when everything goes wrong!!

I'd appreciate some support & any helpful advice :)

Cheers

My first piece of advice is don't set yourself up for failure. These last 10lbs should take about 20 weeks...1/2lb a week.

As for the weekends I get that it can be hard as I found out it's not the alcohol it's the food you eat while consuming alcohol.

My only piece of advice is if you can stay under maintenace during the week...as we all know 1 day will not make or break you.

The other thing is this if you really want it you will make it happen.

Yep. Understand. 3lbs to go myself. It's a long road...but coming from someone who is losing the last 10 pounds for the second time (hit goal, actually surpassed it in 2012, gained 10-15 back), there really should be no rush. This is the period of time that you have to learn BALANCE or maintanance is going SUCK. Going at it full hog on the weekdays just to let yourself relax on the weekends doesn't work. It really has to be something you do balanced every day. I go out with friends/BF at least 3 days a week. I find out where we are going, plan ahead and only let myself order what I planned. I can still have fun, eat less in the morning and afternoon and balance the rest of the calories for the evening. It's when I don't plan ahead and say "Screw it" where I fall - HARD.

I know I can eat more if I work out - will cardio it up for wine! I know that if I eat less at lunch and don't snack after (I sit at a desk for 8 hrs 5 days a week, snack attacks happen) I can have more food and beer (that everyone else is having) when I go out for Happy Hour. Life doesn't have to stop - you just have to plan better if getting that last 10 pounds off is something you REALLY want.

thanks for your advice ladies - much appreciated :)

Yes, as you've both said, if I want to get to that magic number - I'll make it happen & It's only me that can do that!

Just frustrating being so close to goal & feeling like it's taking forever to reach it! I just hope when I get there it will be worth it :D

You do have the ability to adjust your goals. If you want to save some calories for the weekend, eat 200 calories less per day to save it. But make sure you are logging everything you eat. Also, you can force yourself to exercise a bit more during the week or days you plan on working. I know some people eat 1500 during weekend and essentially slightly over maintenance on the weekends. I personally find out, making smarter choices when you go out makes it easier. I eat salads instead of fries. Now I can't eat fries or it makes me sick. I eat veggies and high protein foods also when I go out. Essentially, you need to train yourself to eat smarter.
