what should I eat at a mexican restaurant, lunch meeting

I need food suggestions, I usually eat around 500 cals for lunch or less.
Any info would be helpful.

    look up the restaurant online and hope they have nutritional info, or search for it on MFP. Different restaurants will have different counts for each food. worst case scenario, order lunch portions, eat slowly so it fills you up, and don't be afraid to not eat it all!

    Don't forget you don't have to order off of the menu, you can pick and choose foods from menu items to make something healthy but still tasty and filling.

    Thanks all. I am pretty determined to be good even though bad is just easy. This is a mom and pop shop so no nutrition info available here. Going to stick to grilled, beans and fresh toppings. Maybe some tacos would be a good option.

    taco salad--no sour cream. enchiladas with no cheese. a few tacos (the street taco variety is going to be better because the tortilla isn't fried and if they're made right there's no cheese).

    My Mexican restaurant go-to is grilled shrimp fajitas, and I just don't used the tortillas/sour cream. Instead I eat the shrimp with salsa on top of the lettuce that comes with the fajitas. I do this because my fave Mexican spot doesn't overdo the oil on the fajita veggies.

    Other options are: salad with none or light cheese, or a bowl of soup - there should be an vegetable type option with a no cheese salad on the side.

    this Any restaurant, you can order grilled chicken breast plain and add veggies - a meal! However, I would probably go with some type of salad with chicken, pico de gallo, salsa maybe nix the cheese.

    Just avoid tortillas. I generally love getting fajitas and just don't eat the tortillas that come with it.

    I usually get a single spinach enchilada with red sauce on it and rice/beans and eat about 1/3 of the rice/beans.

    Or huevos rancheros.

    Lean meat (grilled or fajitas) is better than ground (tacos). Pick black or borracho beans over refried. Tortillas can add up in a hurry. Good luck avoiding chips and salsa, my personal weakness!

    Don't know what part of the country you live in but here in San Diego our mexican restaurants have fish tacos. Get grilled ones on corn tortillas and ask for any white sauce on the side so that you can control how much you put on. Just as good with pico de gallo and no white sauce too. Stay away from the chips and salsa and flour tortillas and you should be good!

    Fajitas would be a safe choice. Just lay off the cheese and sour cream.

    Also be carefull with refried beans. They tend to be cooked in lard. Which I imagine isn't terribly calorie friendly.

    I have no idea! hehe I know at my favorite local Mexican restaurant they're not very greasy at all, but that's still a possibility.

    beef or chicken fajitas. Eat half of what they serve on the plate and save the other half for tomorrow's lunch. It's up to you whether or not to eat the tortillas, but I personally would not.

    I would go with chicken fajitas, and would only eat one or two of the tortillas. You can have a dollop of guacamole, but skip any rice or beans they give you. All the vegetables are fine, and you can probably sprinkle a little cheese on it. The great thing about fajitas is that you assemble it all yourself, and you can add bulk with the protein and lettuce, and still feel like you're eating a substantial meal. :drinker:
