It's not at all a spoof country band! Just 70s country music. Unless you figure everything in the 70s was essentially a spoof, then I guess I could see your point.

Not at all. Just read a little about the band and found that it grew out of a commercial and was never really intended to be anything serious until the Convoy hit came along. Sort of created his own country trucker genre.

There was another Officer on one of my Submarines that had every CW McCall song and played them all the time in the Wardroom.
