Cooler weather & shorter days Motivation Sound Off

So the cooler and the days are getting shorter. I am working on my motivation to keep on hitting play. So what do you use as motivation during the fall and winter months?

The cooler weather makes it nicer for running! Running in the dark is fun as long as you have a safe place to do it. Or run in town where there are street lights!

I am more motivated in the fall and winter because there are less work related and social distractions than in the summer. It gets super cold and snowy here, so it's easy to stay inside and work out.

I really wanted to go out today for a walk, but it's so windy and rainy I didn't. I ended up doing something indoors instead. Did my laundry, washed my hair, tided up my home. The weather's better tomorrow, so I'll take an extra long walk then.

I bought a reflective vest and carry a flashlight . The sun is just coming up as I finish my walk. It is so pretty. When the snow flies I will probably be forced to stay inside (WII, pedal exerciser & weights) or just walk around through the snow. That will probably really torch those calories. I love being outside so will find a way.
  • i look at myself in the mirror and decide i dont want to be like that anymore, so i ran 10km in the wind, rain and cold.

dont even think about it too much, just get up and do. and i reward myself with a few episodes of my fave tv show snuggled in front of the fire. worth it

You burn more calories in the cold! I used to think hogwash until I got a HRM. It's true! :drinker:

    It's hockey season...

I probably exercise more/harder in the winter than I do in the summer.

I actually love the fall and winter...the weather is perfect for working out outside and the weight room is pretty much empty here until the resolutioners hit it up Jan 2. Summer is so damned hot...that's when I really have to get myself motivated to go...when it's hot and I'd rather be sitting by the pool with a cold beer.

I put out my best running and cycling times in the winter with the nice, fresh, cool air.
