Gained a lb today

Although my diet isn't always squeaky clean... I want to say that I've done partially good so I don't understand why I gained 1.2 lbs in a week. Can someone help me figure this out? I work out 3-4 days a week so I am burning off some food. I am also due to get my period in the next day or two so maybe that has something to do with it.

Any insight on what to do to start losing other than gaining would be great? Thanks!

    It's likely water weight. Have you had a lot of sodium? More carbs than normal? New workout? All of those things can lead to water retention.

    Weigh yourself again in another week, and try to do it after a rest day (so that you can avoid some water retention in your muscles from your workout). I bet when you weigh again, that 1.2lbs will be gone.

    It's probably normal fluctuation - more than likely, it's mostly water. Do you feel like you've been consuming a lot of salty or sugary foods (which often have a lot of hidden salt)? Have you been drinking enough water? Sometimes I can fluctuate by 2-3 lbs., but since it's water weight, it drops off pretty quickly.

    it isnt always a linear process.
    fluctuations are natural and occur.
    dont sweat it, just keep goin.

    Whew thank you Jesus.. I hope that's the case. I have been eating a lot of fruit, sweet and salt but I also have been drinking loads of water. I will continue ding what I'm doing and weigh in again next week. Thanks!

    When it's my time of the month, I will gain a couple pounds and lose it all within a couple days. I bloat like crazy, it's ridiculous. Tea helps with bloating though.
