For the most part I eat to get full.

I get as many low cal options on my plate as possible. Usually tons of veggies, that way I feel like Im eating alot but not eating crap!

I generally hate eating something small that is really calorie dense. Just doesnt satisfy me!

I think my stomach shrank while I was losing weight. I need to eat some calorie dense foods, or I'm going to feel stuffed, and still not have the energy to do my workout.

Other than treats, where I may have just a little for the taste alone, I do both. I eat to get full, but I never eat food I don't enjoy (except for trying new things that might not work out).

I eat because I have to eat. BUt, I eat until I'm satisfied and I eat slower than a turtle lol.

Always nice when one of the first replies matches what you want to say :)

lol... I do this too... try to meet all my nutrients and get enough protein. When I first started trying to lose weight I would eat what I liked that fit into my calorie count- but my hair was still falling out, skin was bleh, tummy always rumbling and I felt drained all the time. Then I had a wake up call (from using the MFP app, which tells you if you're hitting your daily nutrients- don't know why the site doesn't give as comprehensive a list) and realized the food I eat needs to give me all that good stuff too, so started looking for food I enjoyed but was good for me too.

You won't be able to stick with eating at a deficit if it doesn't fill you or if you're always wanting additional foods on top of what you eat. You need to find that balance.

I used to eat to get full, but that meant I would eat and eat and eat. Now I take the portion that meets by calorie goal for that meal and I'm usually still hungry when the food is gone. However, if I just chill for 15-20 mins, I find out that I am satisfied with what I ate.

I think that is one reason I put on weight. I would just eat and eat and never gave my body time to tell my brain I was full.
