They are all a bunch of greedy self centered politicians. Each party has their own agenda and couldnt care less about the country, they just want to push their own programs. If the entire country collapsed, I don't think they would care as long ad they were able to profit from it.0

Zombie Apocalypse. Your government just doesn't want you to know about it yet.0

Why? Our politicians are pure crap. Kind of like most other countries' pollies, but with a healthy dollop of crazy in the mix.0
-
Because polls suck at their job.0

Think of it this way:
The next time someone accuses a woman of "overreacting" to an advance from a man just remember that when a bunch of old, white and rich men couldn't agree on something they shut down the US government.0 -
TPTB keep gorging themselves on reflationary policy that keeps the fat cat wall street guys stealing the masses blind via a massive transfer of wealth that most people cant even comprehend and would honestly be terrified to become aware of.
Welcome to the fall of the American Empire0 -

The government did not "shut down," despite the hype from the politicians and media. A few consumer-facing departments went on vacation. The IRS stayed open. The NSA stayed open. The prisons stayed open. The taxes got collected and the checks were paid.
Interestingly, while the National Parks were closed, most of the park employees had to stay on duty -- to run off the people who wanted to use the parks. Park employees who formerly let people in now stood at the entrance and kept people out. So even the parks didn't shut down. They just kept out the visitors.
Both the Republicans and Democrats created a fake "crisis" so that each could scream about the other, and then engage in massive fund-raising campaigns. It seems to be working, too. Both parties are engaged in record-breaking fund-raising activities now that each has proven how bad the other is. In the end, nothing changed. The taxes are still high, the spending is still reckless, the jobless rates are still unacceptable, and neither side has any idea about what to do. So they created a diversion, and people will argue about it until the next election.0 -
Yeah there's a short, easy answer. They're fu*king greedy *kitten* who think about nothing other than lining their pockets and controlling the masses to benefit themselves. There are some friggin amazing people in our government that do a lot right (see: Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth and Senator Wendy Davis, for example) but unfortunately the god d@mn idiots outweigh those people (Rand Paul, Mitch McConnell, John Boehner- the list goes on and on and on). End story.0

Yup Bonehead, I mean Bohner may do a last minute switch so we can have some more drama for tomorrow.0 -

^THIS... Couldn't have put it more bluntly. I will add that are a bunch of ****heads.0 -
Do not get me started. Why one group of idiots continue to spend more money than they bring in, year after year, without being fired or thrown in jail. And continuing to pass bill after bill that they make themselves exempt from. Meanwhile people call wall-street corrupt. At least every once and a while one of those guys get fired or thrown in jail.0

Not if they cause a market to collapse, then the banks and Wall Street gets a bonus from the government. Its somewhere in the constitution right? :P
This has to be the real reason they are coming to an agreement today: http://www.theonion.com/articles/heroic-broken-sewage-pipe-floods-congress-with-hum,342370 -

800,000 federal employees were sent home on unpaid furloughed 10/1. And while most should receive back pay, eventually, there are contract employees that were furloughed and will not get any back pay.
There was a story of a 92 year old woman, America's oldest full-time park ranger, that was furloughed. And plenty of stories about couples that had plans to get married at various parks that were not able to, due to the shut down, and the zoos that were closed, and family vacations to national parks cancelled.0 -
I blame the idiots that keep voting in these greedy politicians.......0

Well guys the House just approved the Senate measure, and the government will be "open" for now, so stay tuned until the next episode air in all the channels in just few months.
By the way, it was just reported that the economy lost about 24 billions during the shut down. Good way to control spending and deal. with the deficit.0 -

This says it all.0 -
It plays out the same way every time. Both sides rant and rave for the cameras, lots of photo ops with barricades at the National Parks, no meaningful action until 48 hours before Social Security checks would bounce, then both parties read the polls, whichever one is getting smoked gives in while claiming victory, and life returns to normal.0
-
Interesting! I am glad I am in Canada! Not that our government is much better come to think about it...0
-
Just a bunch of idiots with their heads up their bums this is what we get for sticking to a 2 party system0
