You can google portion sizes on the internet. Also you can weigh your meats. I love recumbant bike for.beginning exercise . I kerp mine close so I know when to workout. The key us finding something you like so it won't feel like work0

If you are making your meals from scratch you can try out this link:
caloriecount.about.com/cc/recipe_analysis.php
I use it almost daily and it calculates calories in the ingredients you use, but if you were using something that has the nutritional information on it, refer to that over this calculator0 -
good suggestions for calorie counting!! As far as cardio to start, walking is easy cheap and you can control how fast you go easy. And it's easy on your joints. Add me if you like. :bigsmile:0

MFP has a recipe builder function too. When you're adding foods to meals, click on 'recipe' on the far right and 'add new'. Then you add the name and servings, then the ingredients. It will tell you how many calories per serving there are.0 -
The best thing for me to do was log everything I was eating, without trying to stop at the 'diet limit', just to see how much I was eating. Then reduce from there. So if I was eating a huge amount of pasta, I'd reduce that and maybe increase veg if thats really low. Also see other unhealthy areas to reduce like snacks (and replace with healthy stuff like yoghurt and fruit), and soda (drink water instead or just drink one glass a day).
Basically, eat whatever you want as long as its within your calorie limit (I recommend pre-planning your days so you know where you stand, and you wont be sitting at dinner time with only 50 calories because you ate too much).
As for cardio, I go outside. I speed walk with my dog, ride my bike, and do other free things (besides having to buy a bike if you dont have one).
Good luck.0
