How do I calculate how much protein I really need

I am exercising a lot and plan to start to do a few resistant exercises. I've noticed that MFP seems to scale the percentage protein quota as a percentage of calories but it does not take into account the amount of exercise. I am guessing that really the amount and type of exercise I do should also feed into this so that if I do more exercise I should reduce fat and increase protein but I don't know how to calculate this. Has anyone else thought of this ? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

thanks for that, I'll need a way of calculating lean bodyweight but I am sure that won't be too hard to find :-) not for this purpose anyway.0
