Seeking Advice From Runners re: chilly half marathon start

Im running the IMT 1/2 also. I went out this morning (at 38 degrees) short sleeve under armour, shorts, and nike running tech tee. I was plenty hot when I got back home. I just ran three miles this morning and warmed up quickly. Had those cheap 2/$1 stretchy gloves and they did not keep my hands warm at all. Might spring for some nicer gloves and stuff them in my short pocket? Good luck and enjoy race morning (yes standing on the bridge at the start is going to suck).0

Thanks for the warning about the cheap gloves...that's all I have too so I may have to do some more considering... and for sharing your experience from this morning. I have a feeling we're all going to get to know each other pretty well while squishing together for warmth.
Have a great race!0 -
Just in case anyone wanted an update, I wore a tshirt, capris, socks converted into arm warmers, cheap gloves, and a cheap ear warmer.
I ditched the arm warmers, gloves, and ear warmer headband before the first mile mark, but it was really nice to have those things to keep me warm at the start.
I was comfortable for the duration of the race, and had sweats waiting for me to put on for the ride home. It was heavenly.
Also, I PRed and broke 2:00:00 - official time 1:59:32!
Thanks everyone!0 -
Walmart is your friend. Buy a flannel moomoo and chuck it at the start. They'll donate it to someone who truly appreciates moomoos0
