30 Day Shred

I started it yesterday! Holy cow! I can't believe how much I sweat in less than 20 minutes and I'm VERY sore today. I have been working out on and off for the last year so I am shocked that it was so tough for me :)

I leave for a cruise in 22 days so I won't do all 30 days but I can't wait to see what I get out of 23!

Can't wait to see my results!

I did day 2 of 30 DS yesterday. I had a day off in between days 1 and 2 as was sooo sore especially my thighs and abs. Less sore today though so hopefully my muscles are getting stronger.
I hate the skipping jumps though arghhh!
There are quite a few groups on here with people doing the DVD.
Good Luck though we can definately stick it out it is only 20mins each time :-)

LOL I am going to start running in the evenings so hoping if I start doing 30DS in teh morning this weekend-I will get in the habit & NEED it.

    Good luck with your measures!

I started this on Monday. I've tried to do it on and off over the past few years but only got to about day 7 and gave up. I wasn't doing any diet etc either so wasn't the best! I've now been on weightwatchers since March and lost 32lb with another 14 to go until in my healthy BMI weight with just following the diet and walking daily. So I now want to get rid of my pot belly so thought I best start exercising a bit more.

Can anyone tell me if it's normal to put on weight when starting this DVD? I'm guessing it is as you are building muscle but when I stood on the scales this morning I'd put on about 3lb since this time last week. I've only been doing it 3 days though (had a rest day yesterday as was very sore)?

Sore is an understatement! Yowsa!! I could barely walk this morning and I took yesterday off! I will be doing it again tonight and then starting mornings tomorrow so I can get 2 weekend days in before I have to get back to work on Monday. I may not have time to meet my goal weight but I am going to at least get a few inches down so I can feel comfortable in my shorts!

We are going on Carnival - Eastern Carribean - Half Moon Cay Bahamas, St. Thomas, San Juan Puerto Rico and Grand Turk. 7 days of no electronics with both of our kids and about 5 or 6 other couples/families. I'm so excited!!!! Many firsts for our family - first cruise, first time seeing the ocean, first time out of the country (other than Canada). CAN'T WAIT!!

I am doing it right now. I am at level 2 but I can still remember how sore I was in the first week of level 1!! Everything was in pain. I did level 1 14 days long before I moved on. I only do it 4 times a week
Let me tell you Level 2 is killing me right now. I didn't get sore anymore but there are a few times during the 20 minutes where I need to make a break because I simply cannot go on. Level 2 has a lot of exercises for upper body strength at which I really suck.

I lost 6lbs and alltogher 3.3 inches but I am also doing something similar like c5k three times a week.
I didn't adjust my diet except that I am trying to eat more protein.

I think when you work out your muscles can be swollen (retaining water) the following day and you will weigh more. I say try drinking a little more water.

i was thinking this morning during workout if i want to move on to level 2 and yea i suck at upper body too. i'm still hurting a bit in level 1 and i'm not mastered it, and i'd like to do that before i move on. i also have to stop a few times in level1, but i do the 5 seconds that she says. have you looked at level 3? i also have her revolution, her abs, her butt and thighs and her beginners. she's a beast!

i hate circuit one in level one - push ups and squats and jumping jacks! omg, i'm so glad when we get to circuit 2. lol

I didn't really take a look at level 3 only read that it's supposed to be easier than level 2. I believe that!!
Jumping jacks in Level 1 were ok but I hated the push ups and were only able to do the modified version and the side lunges with raised arms were horrible.
Now there are so many plank position moves (strength, cardio, abs) and I hate them all with a passion

You have Body Revolution? This is very high on my wish list! I saw a thread recently here with awesome results. I only have RI 30 which I want to do afterwards and Killer Buns and Thighs.

Level 1/d2 this morning and I did better than last night but that's not saying much haha.

I feel much better about myself for trying this, although I may be in level 1 for like a month due to my out-of-shapeness lol.

As a friend said, "we may look like dorks but hey, we r trying!!"

THOSE SIDE LUNGES! Argh!! All of the strength moves where you have to squat and lift weights kill me all the time. Since I usually do 15-20lbs on the weights machine in the gym, I bought 2 6lbs weights. Anything beyond the 10th rep kills me all the time. And those side lunges, after doing about 6, I just don't bother lifting them up anymore. I'm only at day 5 since I don't do the program on days that I go to the gym, but today I felt that my butt is a little more lifted! :) oh happy days

I did day 2/level 1 today & made it to the end!!!!! I had to stop a couple of times for a few seconds but I did it! I think I need to use different sized weights for parts of it. I'm using 6 lb but think for the front raises I might need 3 or 4 lbs (I forget what size I have).

I am so proud of myself! I also stayed within my calories today even when I had a choc bar and ice cream! I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything because I caved into my craving but I'm happy with what I had and now I know I don't NEED to have anymore chocolate :)

I can't wait to check out her other DVD's to see what I will do next. I can't wait to give it a shot tomorrow morning! I've got to do it in AM on work days especially---at night I get so much energy I can't sleep. LOL

    SOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I started it yesterday, i watched it online the night before and thought it didn't look too bad, I was very wrong, it was so hard!
I got through it though and my legs felt really shaky walking down the stairs.
Today I can hardly walk and it even hurts to sit down.
My heart rate monitor says I burnt 223 calories which is quite good, I only burn around 100 calories in 20 minutes hooping.
I am going to rest for the weekend, I won't be able to do it while the kids are at home anyway, they wouldn't leave me along long enough so I am going to start again on Monday, hopefully I won't be sore anymore and I will be able to do 5 days straight.
I will see how it goes.
  • Today is Day 5 for me.
I REALLY hate the side lunges, lol. The lightest weight I have at my apartment is 8 lbs, so I have to use those. And holy hell, my arms shake when doing those side lunges. Any of the other exercises with the weights is fine. But those... kill me.

I started yesterday too and was so happy to make it through the full 20 minutes. I have the most problem with the bicycle move and the jumping jacks. Jumping jack are not something I am comfortable with still as I had a herniated disk in my back a couple of years ago and had to have surgery. I am doing mostly heel jacks right now but started some jumping with the jump rope part yesterday.

The first 2 or 3 days you won't be able to walk very well, haha. It will hurt sitting down. You'll have to lower yourself when going to sit down on the toilet, lol. But it gets better after that. Now I'm not sore.

Ahahahaha did you have to do like me and grab the toilet seat with your arms before lowering yourself down? LMAO. I couldn't do it otherwise. Just did Day 5 before writing this. So glad I'm doing better at every exercise now. It's still hard for me to do those side lunges with the 8 lb weight, but it's more doable now. I still can't do full push-ups though, I have to do those knee ones.

Arghh well I took 2 days in a row off, 1 was a planned rest day on Sunday and then Monday life got a bit hectic and I wasn't home until late after work so couldn't fit the shred in.
Got back to it last night and wow were my thighs burning after the 20minutes!!! This morning I am definately feeling it again and in my calves aswell this time.
Does anyone else get it that slightly different sections of your thighs etc hurt each time. It's a strange feeling for me as I thought as you were technically working the same muscles and doing the same exercises each time, that the same muscles would hurt??
Still find the first cardio section the hardest jumping jacks to jump ropes and then back to jumping jacks and more jump ropes arghhh!!

    Hope everyone is doing well!
