Check-In

Just wondering how often people check-in their weight? I like to enter a new weight anytime it's lower than the one before. Am I setting myself up?

Some people log their weight every day/week on MFP, even if it went up. I am one to only put it in when it's lower, I haven't had any issues with "setting myself up" I'm not sure what you mean by that.0

I would set a day and time that is check in weight time. Enter that weight regardless of whether it's up or down. If you only measure the downs it's way to easy to let the ups keep creeping higher. It's like a gambler that keeps going hoping they can make their money back later.0

I don't think your setting yourself up as long as your not trying to manipulate the scale. I would try to weigh yourself no more than once a week though. One thing that helps me is to put the scale away (out of sight) until weigh in time.0

When it's down only now. I used to log everything, but now I just weigh myself once in a while and just log it if it's lower.0

i record my weight on mondays0

I only log when I drop because I usually chalk any gain to doms or TOM.0

I weigh in ever day in the morning. If I see a weight change that lasts more than a few days, I log it.0

I enter weight ever few weeks. For my last ten pounds, I set my goals to lose .5 pounds loss per week so it's much slower. As long as I'm doing the same thing as I have been doing all along I'm not worried about gaining weight, so I'll check in when I get around to it.0

I weigh myself every day (sometimes more than once!) because I like to see how I fluctuate due to TOM, crazy exercise...even elimination. But I love numbers.
I only log when I hit a new low. If I hit that new low, I weigh myself at least 3 times to make sure my scale isn't off, then I log it. I do keep a rule though. Once I hit that new low, I know that that will be my new baseline, and I do not allow myself to go more than 5lbs more than that baseline. Since I know that, it doesn't matter to me if I'm 201.6 or 204.2...as long as the overall graph is going down.
I'm thinking about logging every weight up or down for a few months next year to really see the big picture.
I know it's not the method for everyone, but I am aware that my body fluctuates quite often and I like to see it. If I were to weigh myself every week, I'd miss seeing exactly what was going on with my body, and would only have one point of data per week as opposed to 7. More data collected = more accuracy and certainty.0
